Child Marriage and Teenage Pregnancy 26.02.2026
Shree Venkateshwara Arts and Science college in association with the Youth Red Cross, organized an awareness program on “Child Marriage and Teenage Pregnancy” on 26.02.2026.
The programme began with a welcome address by the coordinator of the associations, Mr. C. Suresh. The event was inaugurated by the Principal . The Vice-Principal shared his views on how modern lifestyle leads young people toward harmful paths. The Chief Guest introduction was given by Dr. K. Suresh Kumar.
The special guest for the programme was Mr. R. Chandrasekaran, M.A. (Psy), JJB Member and former Chairperson of the Child Welfare Committee, Erode. He delivered an informative speech on child marriage and explained how early marriage affects both individuals and society.
More than 300 students attended the awareness program and benefited from the session. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Mr. A. Arunkumar.
One Day District Level Anti-Drug and Suicide Prevention Workshop and Rally 18.02.2026
RED RIBBON CLUB – AIDS Awareness Flash on MoB , Human chain” Date: 23.10.2024
The Red Ribbon Club organized an “AIDS awareness rally, AIDS Awareness Flash on MoB, Human chain” at Shree Venkateswara Arts and Science College, Othakuthirai near Kavindapadi as part of the Youth Awakening Day events. Dr. A. Mohanasundaram Principal presided over the function. In his presidential address, he was spoken about the activities under the Tamil Nadu State AIDS Control Organization and how the students should educate the message about these activities. Dr. C. Nanjappa Vice Principal felicitated the function. Mr. Sridhar, ICTC Consultant, Primary Health Centre Siruvalur and Mr. P. Duraisamy, District AIDS Prevention and Control Officer Erode are the special guests. In his special address, Mr. P. Duraisamy explained to the students about the various programmes conducted by the Red Ribbon Club. Later, volunteers formed a human chain to create an awareness about AIDS. A dance performance by volunteers was held in the college campus to create awareness. The arrangements were made by Mr. C. Suresh, Coordinator, Red Ribbon Club of the College. Mr. S. Krishnakumar NSS officer, Smt. Gomathi Siruvalur Primary Health Worker was also present. More than 150 volunteers participated in the event and created awareness among college students.
Awareness program on “Early Detection Saves Lives” 04.02.2026
Shree Venkateswara Arts and Science college, in association with the Red Ribbon Club and the Youth Red Cross, organized a cancer awareness programme and rally at Odathurai on 04.02.2026 to mark World Cancer Day.
The programme began with a welcome address by the coordinator of the associations, Mr. C. Suresh. The event was inaugurated by the Principal of the college, Dr. A. Mohanasundaram.
The special guest for the programme was Dr. R. M. Ramesh Kumar, Medical Officer of the Odathurai Primary Health Centre, who delivered an informative speech on cancer and the importance of cancer prevention.
More than 50 college students participated in the rally and created an awareness about cancer among the people of Odathurai by marching through the main streets of the town.

Awareness Program on Right To Information Act 17.10.2025
RRC, YRC, and Rotaract Club have jointly organized an Awareness Program on Right to Information Act on 17th October 2025 in the college auditorium. The main objective of the program was to educate students about the importance of the Right to Information Act and its role in promoting transparency and accountability in governance. Mrs. M. Nithya Varshini, B.Sc., LL.M., Advocate, Gobi, was the Chief Guest. She delivered an informative talk on the Right to Information Act, explaining its objectives, importance, and how it empowers citizens to access public information. As part of the event, Quiz and Essay competitions were conducted to the students and they got prizes. More than 450 students benefited from this program and they learnt about the features of right to information act.
Awareness on Tuberculosis 24.01.2025
The Red Ribbon Club, in collaboration with the Government Primary Health Center, organized an awareness program on Tuberculosis (TB) at Shree Venkateswara Arts and Science College, Othakuthirai, near Kavindapadi. Dr. Dr. C. Nanjappa,Vice Principal of the college, presided over the function. In his presidential address, he spoke about the initiatives under the Tamil Nadu TB program and emphasized the importance of students spreading awareness about these activities within the community. The special guests included: Dr. R. Ramachandran, MBBS, DTCD, Deputy Director of Medical Services (TB), Erode. Dr.Praveena, Primary Health Center, Siruvallur, Mr. N. Sivakumar, District Health Educator, Erode.In his special address, Dr. R. Ramachandran educated the students on the various causes of TB and the harmful effects of tobacco usage. Dr. Praveena provided a clear explanation of TB, its prevention measures, and treatment options. Mr. N. Sivakumar highlighted the prevention initiatives undertaken by the government and discussed the available treatment facilities. The event was meticulously organized by Mr. C. Suresh, Coordinator of the Red Ribbon Club. NSS Officer Mr. S. Krishnakumar and YRC Coordinator, Dr. N. Bharathiraja also contributed to the program’s success. More than 150 volunteers actively participated in the event, creating awareness among the college students about TB and its prevention.

YOUTH RED CROSS
The Youth Red Cross (YRC) in Government Engineering College(Autonomous) is one of the avenues among NSS to the students to be pursued under Personality and Character Development Programme
OBJECTIVE OF YRC
- To conduct social and health awareness programmes.
- Awareness is in the care of their own health and that of others.
- To encourage the students to extend their humanitarian services to society.
- To offer First Aid Training to all the YRC volunteers.
- To develop leadership quality among the students.
- The understanding and acceptance of civic responsibilities and acting accordingly with humanitarian concern, to fulfill the same.
- To offer First Aid Training to all the YRC volunteers.
- To inculcate in the Youth of our country.
- To understand and accept civic and human responsibilities.

The Indian Red Cross Society aims to inspire, encourage and initiate at all times, all forms of humanitarian activities so that human suffering can be minimized, alleviated and even prevented, thus contributing to creating a more congenial climate for peace.

- Blood Grouping and Haemoglobin Estimation.
- Conduct Essay competition and award prizes.
